CatholicCare Tasmania’s Inspire@HOME program is one of the largest providers of Therapeutic Residential Care in Tasmania. The Inspire@HOME Program provides direct care in a residential setting to Young People aged 12-18.
We are currently looking for a Key Worker who is passionate about supporting Young People by providing a nurturing home environment. The role works closely with the Placement Lead in assisting with leading a team of Youth Workers who support Young People in our residential placements and in the community. The role assists with providing high quality day-to-day therapeutic care and acts as a positive role model for the young people who live in the home.
Although the role comes with its challenges, it is highly rewarding, and you will play an integral part in a community that brings positive change to a young person’s life.
About The Role:
Your role will be diverse and challenging and will involve, providing therapeutic care to enrich the safety, physical and emotional development for trauma-impacted children and young people living in a residential setting.
Selection Criteria:
- Commitment to the vision, mission and values of CatholicCare Tasmania; and a broad understanding of the operation of the Catholic Church in Tasmania
- Experience of working with young people who present with challenging behaviours, and the ability to demonstrate understanding of trauma informed practice and implementation of non-punitive strategies when responding to these behaviours
- Demonstrated experience and understanding of the principles which underpin working within a case management model for young people
- Well-developed interpersonal and communication skills which include the ability to negotiate, liaise and consult with young people, other colleagues and other service providers
- Demonstrated leadership and administrative skills including the ability to manage aspects of the running of the house
- Possess a sound knowledge of relevant statutory requirements, including Mandatory Reporting, Workplace Health and Safety, Duty of Care, Privacy and Confidentiality, Children, Young People and their Families Act and Anti-discrimination legislation.
Essential Requirements:
- Diploma of Community Services is desirable or equivalent of three (3) years' work experience in a similar role
- Satisfactory National Police Check
- Current Tasmanian Registration to Work with Vulnerable People
- Current Tasmanian driving licence, and
- Current First Aid Certificate, including CPR
