Shangri-La The Marina, Cairns, is seeking expressions of interest from experienced and energetic Kitchen Stewards, who are looking to join our team of friendly, hardworking and focused individuals, dedicated to providing exceptional service within our Culinary department at a 5-star level.The HotelShangri-La The Marina, Cairns is a luxury five-star hotel located beside Marlin Marina and Trinity Inlet in the heart of Cairns. With 255 guest rooms, 18 function venues and extensive food and beverage facilities, the hotel is part of a leading international company with more than 100 hotels and resorts worldwide.The RoleAs a Kitchen Steward, you will be responsible for ensuring all back of house food and beverage areas are maintained to a high standard. (This role does not include any food handling)Duties include but are not limited to the following:
- Handling, washing, rinsing and maintaining all operational equipment including pots, pans, kettle, cutlery, crockery and glassware and other utensils
- Maintaining cleanliness of kitchen floors, cold room floors and trolley fridges
- Maintaining cleanliness of work areas and equipment including; bench tops, stoves, grill plate, salamander, deep fryer and woks on a daily basis and in accordance to departmental standard
- Previous experience as a Kitchen Steward working in a physically demanding and fast paced environment
- Ability to focus on a number of tasks and great organizational skills
- Flexible availability across a 24/7 roster and willingness to work up to 37.5 hours per week
