Job Description:
The preferred applicant will be flexible, punctual, self-motivated and display initiative.
Your role will be to participate in the day-to-day operation of the laboratory, working as part of a dedicated molecular team.
Duties include:
- Perform diagnostic tests using PCR platforms
- Preparation of PCR reagents and all necessary set up requirements
- Perform all procedures as documented in the Laboratory Procedure Manual.
- Participation in the rotating roster on night shift.
- Maintain quality control of equipment, reagents and other duties as required.
- Good knowledge of laboratory operations including; safety, operation of equipment and hands on practical experience performing laboratory skills and compliance with accreditation and quality assurance requirements.
- Assure that equipment and laboratory work areas are clean and orderly.
Selection Criteria:
Essential -
- Australian Tertiary qualifications in medical laboratory science or equivalent (preferred Bachelors/Diploma however, Cert III applicants will be considered). All overseas qualifications MUST be assessed as equivalent to an Australian qualification by an appropriate body.
- Participation in a rotating roster on night shift
- Demonstrated ability to work unsupervised and as part of a team.
- Proven customer service skills and excellent phone manner.
- Show initiative and have good analytical decision-making skills.
- Ability to prioritise work and meet deadlines.
- Ability to interact and communicate well with doctors.
- High standard of verbal and written communication skills.
- An understanding of anti-discrimination, cultural diversity and EEO and WHS principles.
- Current drivers licence.
Preferred –
- Experience with Molecular microbiology and PCR processes.
- Experience using ULTRA laboratory information system.
- Applicants with experience using Hologic Panther Fusion and Genetic Signatures platforms considered a bonus.
