About the role

- Laboratory is based in Burleigh Heads on the Gold Coast
- Dual role - working in the field conducting liner integrity surveys supporting the expansion of this important part of the business, and also working in the laboratory having hands on involvement in the testing of materials
The field work portion of this role involves applied geophysics using TRI-developed equipment in order to locate leaks in installed geomembranes. It involves working outdoors in physically difficult conditions while performing precise measurements and applying analytical skills.
This position is perfect for someone with strong technical knowledge who would like to work in a role outside the norm, communicating with clients and providing solutions. The roll will entail traveling to construction sites for at least 40 to 60% of the year.
Responsibilities
- Attending clients project sites as required to conduct electrical leak location surveys both nationally and internationally
- Performing routine to complex lab testing for specialist materials
- Performing survey equipment calibration, care and maintenance
- When not on site
- Reporting on projects completed
- Producing quotes for future projects
- Performing routine to complex lab testing
- Managing existing clients
- Following through on customer initiated enquiries
- Communicating directly with clients and preparing proposals and quotations with the support of the Director
- Presenting proposals and follow through to complete a successful sales outcome
- Project management of field equipment and supplies
- Building and maintaining sustainable customer relationships
Selection criteria
This role would suit someone who has experience as a field surveyor. To be successful in this role the following competencies are essential:
- Tertiary qualification - Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Geophysics or equivalent (desirable)
- Qualified by experience – at least 2 years experience in Geomembrane surveys and quality assurance (will be considered)
- Current Driver’s License
- Ability to think on your feet and find solutions
- A polished professional communication style
- Flexible and willing to mobilize to field projects at short notice
- Ability to perform field projects outdoors in adverse conditions
- Computer literacy
- Excellent time management skills
- High attention to detail
- Self-motivated and enjoy face to face contact with clients
- Experience in Laboratory and Field geotechnical testing an advantage
