Form of work The purpose of this position is to co-ordinate the operations of the laboratory to fulfil client turnaround and quality requirements. This will require the optimal use of available staff to achieve an efficient flow of work through the laboratory departments for accurate and reliable analysis of samples and data whilst maintaining a safe work environment. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO Technical Optimise laboratory operations and staff to achieve safe, efficient and reliable production outcomes Manage job priority and laboratory resources to achieve client turnaround expectations in liaison with management and senior laboratory staff Perform all approved analytical methods in the laboratory Work with the QAQC team to maintain a quality system for ISO17025 accreditation Ensure all operating procedures are followed and maintained. Ensure all analysis and reports are completed on time and are accurate, monitoring turnaround and productivity. To assist in/or conduct investigations of discrepancies or non-conformances and inform laboratory management of required corrective actions. Oversee the activities of shipping, receiving, registration, sample retention and sample disposal. Other Maintain a safe work environment Employee management Assist with recruitment Co-ordinate training and training records Oversee rostering and management of leave Supervision of employees in the laboratory Evaluate employee performance, providing regular feedback Co-ordinate regular stock take of consumable resources in conjunction with laboratory administration Comply with and enforce all Intertek policies and procedures, including workplace health and safety, HR, IT, quality and production. Co-ordinate maintenance and record keeping Communicate with the Laboratory Manager regarding the routine needs of the laboratory. Maintain communication with clients and Laboratory manager regarding status of samples Other appropriate duties as requested by the laboratory manager.
