This is a site-based position, working at our Ernest Henry operation. The Ernest Henry copper-gold operation (EHO) is a large-scale, long-life asset. The operation employs the sub-level caving extraction method. It is located 38km north-east of Cloncurry, Queensland on the traditional lands of the Mitakoodi people.
About the role
Reporting to the Lab Supervisor, you will be tasked with providing analysis services which will be used to assess processing plant efficiency and maintain environmental compliance.
Key result areas in this role include:
Preparation of samples (crushing/splitting/pulverising) for wet chemical assay
Performing acid digestion and potentiometric titration of copper concentrate
Gold analysis by Aqua Regia digestion with a DIBK extraction and an AAS finish
Performing XRD analysis and assist with the operation of an Avio 500 ICP-OES
Identifying errors that may arise during analysis processes and troubleshoot solutions
Maintaining accurate records of analytical results and report these as required
Performing routine maintenance and cleaning of the laboratory equipment
Monitoring laboratory equipment for reliability and safety
About you
You will bring previous experience working with copper/base metals and a Cert IV in Laboratory Techniques or similar qualification. You will have strong problem-solving skills, a high attention to detail and the ability to work independently.
