As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in overseeing all activities revolving around the acquiring and managing of the land required for onshore wind farm installations throughout the country. The successful candidate will report to the Development Manager/Head of Development.As a Land Manager, you will oversee the process of acquiring and managing the land necessary for the installation of wind sites across Australia. Your main responsibilities will include, but won't be limited to, the managing of stakeholder relationships, negotiating land agreements, ensuring regulatory compliance, identifying suitable sites and facilitating community engagement.In addition to this, you will be expected to work closely with the Head of Development, the Development Manager, as well as legal advisors, permitting specialists and local communities, to ensure that land use is being optimised and a positive relationship is being fostered.Key Responsibilities
- Identify suitable sites for new projects by conducting in-depth site assessments and considering a range of factors including topography, access to transmission lines etc.
- Negotiating and securing necessary land rights once the sites have been identified, including purchase agreements and leases, by working closely with landowners, legal teams and local communities
- Uphold positive and healthy relationships with local communities, authorities and other stakeholders which may have been impacted by the project to ensure that all issues are being addressed and open communication is being facilitated
- Collaborate with permitting agencies, environmental consultants and legal teams to guarantee compliance with all regulations and the submitting of all required documentation
- Coordinate land use planning activities by working with internal teams and third party consultants to consider factors such as maximising energy potential and minimising environmental impact when laying out and designing new projects
- Maintain specific records and documentation which are related to land leases, as well as other contracts and agreements, to ensure the tracking of key milestones and deadlines related to land use and rights
- Liaise with different stakeholders in case of conflict to ensure that any issues are being resolved through negotiation, mediation, or legal means, if and when necessary.
- University degree within a relevant field relating to law, land and property
- Outstanding industry knowledge and experience of working with land agreements within the renewable energy sector and reviewing and interpreting maps and plans
- Solid understanding of wind energy, wind resource assessments and wind farm development processes, as well as any technologies associated with this
- High level of attention to detail and strong organisational and multitasking skills to handle multiple projects simultaneously
- Demonstrated negotiation skills and the ability to work with complicated landowner agreements
- Proficiency in using computer software tools, including MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint) and other project management software platforms
- Familiarity in tools used in land management and GIS mapping
