The Opportunity
The Eyre Peninsula Landscape Board is looking for a dedicated and passionate Landscape Officer to help with the delivery of their operational programs, projects, and priorities.The role works with a range of land managers and community to increase understanding, acceptance and adoption of pest plant and animal control, sustainable agriculture, and water management programs. The role is required to collect, record, and interpret information on declared or threatening pest animal and plant infestations and where necessary undertake associated compliance related activities as an Authorised Officer under the Landscape South Australia Act 2019 (Landscape Act).Additionally, part of this role includes assisting with the delivery of the Flinders Island Safe Haven Project that will see the eradication of rodents and feral cats to create a new Island Safe Haven for state and nationally threatened species of mammals, shorebirds and seabirds.Success in this role will require a keen understanding of natural resource management, strong personal and project organisation, communication skills, the capacity to build and maintain strong relationships, and a collaborative approach.It's a role that offers abundant autonomy, variety, and challenge, while providing opportunity for the successful candidates to flex their full range of skills.The role is based in Streaky Bay, among the region’s wonderfully rugged coastlines, plentiful seafood, sandy beaches, spectacular national parks and abundant wildlife, all of which contributes to making the Eyre Peninsula community a very special place to live and work.About Us
The Eyre Peninsula Landscape Board works with community, industry, and other government agencies to sustainably manage our region's natural resources, with an emphasis on protection and restoration of our soil, water management, biodiversity, and pest plant and animal control.The Eyre Peninsula region covers approximately 80,000 square kilometres and includes part of the upper Spencer Gulf, the city of Whyalla, across the southern boundaries of the Gawler Ranges, past Ceduna to the edge of the Nullarbor Plain and south to the fishing hub of Port Lincoln. The Eyre Peninsula supports a population of just under 60,000 people and is the traditional lands of First Nations peoples.Other key functions include development of water allocation plans for prescribed water resources and operating as the relevant authority for a range of water, land protection and animal and plant control activities.More information about the Eyre Peninsula Landscape Board can be found .Benefits

• A current class “C” driver’s license and willingness and ability to safely operate a manual 4WD is essential.
• This role may require you to work alone in a field environment, including working in adverse conditions from time to time.
• This role has been designated a Position of Trust and requires a satisfactory National Police Clearance prior to employment.

Requirements

• An appropriate tertiary qualification in natural resource management, or an equivalent is desirable.
• Some out of hours work may be required.
