The Soil Extension Officer is responsible for the provision of high level advice and the development of extension resources on the testing and monitoring of soils, and the interpretation of soil test data to support best practice land management decision making.
The role will work with and coordinate activities with farming system groups, industry groups and land managers, including establishing and coordinating the management of field trial and demonstration sites showing innovative and best practice management to optimise soil and landscape health. This includes collaborating with Soil Extension colleagues in other regions through a Soil Extension Officer `Community of Practice' Network, and promoting community and industry awareness and adoption of best practice soil and land management.
Special Conditions:
- Position is based in Limestone Coast region, with actual location to be negotiated.
- A current minimum class C driver's licence and willingness to drive is required.
- Appointment will be subject to a satisfactory criminal history check.
- Will have the opportunity to participate in fire management or associated duties.
- Some out of hours work and intrastate travel involving overnight absences from home may be required.
- Required to work alone in a field environment, including working in adverse weather conditions from time to time.
- Required to participate in the LC Landscape Board's Performance Development and Review Program.
Contract: Term contract until 30 June 2025
Remuneration: (PO1/PO2) $67,466 - $96,223 max p.a.
