About the role
Maurice Blackburn has a long history of practising in Abuse Law, and of advocating on the part of survivors of childhood sexual abuse. This is a unique opportunity to establish credentials and expertise in a developing area of law. Key Responsibilities:
- Meeting with clients and taking instructions.
- Reviewing and analysing records.
- Drafting written communications to clients and opponents.
- Briefing medical experts, and allied health professionals.
- Drafting court documents.
- Attending court for procedural hearings.
- Briefing and liaising with barristers.
We are looking for a lawyer with strong client service focus, a personable approach and commitment to social justice. You will ideally have at least 2-3 years PAE however if you have a strong desire to forge a career within this space we want to hear from you. In addition, you will have:
- A valid practising certificate;
- Prior experience working within a personal injury or litigation environment;
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to build relationships and trust;
- An ability to work independently and as part of a team;
- Excellent organisational skills, with high attention to detail;
- Excellent time management skills and commitment to drive matters to resolution in a timely manner;
- A strong knowledge of the relevant procedural rules relevant to personal injury practice in New South Wales;
- The ability to speak to clients from different backgrounds;
- A solutions focused outlook with a proactive approach to delivering quality outcomes.
