The Team
Community and Place leads engagement with NSW regional communities and stakeholders to champion their needs and achieve integrated community outcomes. The Community Partnering team is focused on engaging with the community, industry and local council stakeholders to gain insight into their local needs, manage relationships and deliver safety and transport outcomes which suit those communities now and into the future.
The opportunity
Right now, we have a Permanent Full-Time opportunity available for a Lead Community and Safety Partner to join the Community and Place Branch in the Tamworth or New England area. Applicants from outside the Tamworth New England area may be considered, however will be required to travel regularly to the area to undertake duties such as meetings and inspections.
This role will lead partnering and engagement activities, providing assessments, advice and assist in the development and delivery of relevant transport programs across the region and act as the TfNSW representative for regional communities in NSW
Some key elements of the role include:
- Deliver and manage technical advice to internal and external stakeholders concerning safety and transport
- Collaborate with customers, communities, and key stakeholders to inform movement and place planning,
- Lead key relationships with stakeholders including councils, community groups, other government
- departments, service providers and operators to ensure community needs are met and programs are
- Provide development and leadership to the team and mentor junior staff
This position offers flexible, hybrid work arrangements, but it is a requirement of the role to undertake routine travel within the region when required.
About you
To be successful in this role you will have transport-related tertiary qualifications or demonstrated experience working in a similar position. You will display a passion for road safety and possess the technical experience to apply the Safe System approach in urban and rural settings. You will have a clear focus on striving for multi-modal improvements across our region.
We are looking for a dynamic individual with strong interpersonal skills and a proven ability to develop and maintain collaborative working relationships with internal and external stakeholders. Demonstrated experience engaging with the community and a commitment to understanding our customers' transport needs would be seen as an asset to our team.
You will have the ability to lead and mentor a team. You will have proven project management experience and flexibility to adjust to changing priorities. A familiarity operating in a State or local government environment and an understanding of road safety auditing would also be a bonus.
Salary and Benefits
