Location: Macquarie University, Wallumattagal Campus, North RydeTHE ROLEThe Lead Data Engineer will be working with the relevant project team to lead the development and optimisation of data and analytics architecture, as well as optimising data flow and collection to deliver integrated and quality business information and reporting solutions.Reporting to the Head - Data Solutions, key responsibilities for this role include:Develop, test, and maintain data and analytics architecture, including databases and large-scale processing systems, for optimal extraction, transformation and upload of data from multiple sources and different technologies.Work with the stakeholders to support their data infrastructure requirements and assist with resolving technical issues.Provide Technical leadership of the implementation of data and/or integration solutions for complex enterprise systems within complex multistakeholder and formalised project delivery environments.Deploy models into production using CI/CD pipelines.Reverse and forward engineer data assets.Build data acquisition, ingestion pipeline, and data lake capability.Recommend improvements to data reliability, efficiency, and quality, and provide high quality data assets for enterprise use.Identify, design, and implement process improvement to automate processes, optimise data delivery, and achieve infrastructure efficiency and scalability.Collate, process, transform, and model raw data from multiple sources, and utilise different data sourcing, integration, and modelling techniques.Pilot, demonstrate and evaluate useability of new technologies and systems,Design and update user guides, technical specifications and Process flow documents for all applications and tools.Creation and maintenance of artefacts relating to data models (e.g. DDLs, mapping of data, DMLs, Data Dictionaries, Change Registers etc.)Assisting in the development and continuous improvement of data modelling and principles, processes, and standardsAssisting in the implementation of data asset standards, and in the implementation of related data asset governance processesAbout UsThe Vice-President Strategy, Planning and Performance (VPSPP) holds executive responsibility for the development and execution of university strategy, cross-institutional planning, and oversight of whole of University Group performance.The VPSPP supports the Vice-Chancellor, Executive Group and University Council in ensuring the long-term sustainability and strategic direction of the University and its group subsidiaries.Specific accountabilities include:

To be considered for this position, please apply online and attach your resume and a separate cover letter that outlines how you meet the selection criteria below:Selection CriteriaTertiary qualifications in Data and Analytics, Data Science, Business orStatistics or equivalent knowledge, skills and experience.Advanced Knowledge and experience in Snowflake.Highly developed skills to write, test and validate data transformation and ETL routines within DBT, Apache Airflow, Python, Alteryx.Data Vault 2 data model implementation experience.Dimensional data model implementation experience.Demonstrated knowledge of database tools and SQL skills for navigating and troubleshooting these data processes in these platforms.Experience with database, data pipeline and workflow management tools: Snowflake, JIRA, Wiki, DBT Airflow, Python etc.Experience in pipeline scalability, through services such as Kubernetes.Experience working in a collaborative environment.Experience with database, data pipeline and workflow management tools: Snowflake, JIRA, Wiki, DBT Airflow, etc.Experience in providing technical leadership of the implementation of data and/or integration solutions for complex enterprise systems within complex multistakeholder and formalised project delivery environments.Providing specialist data deployment support in the context of a mature IT service delivery organisation supporting both cloud and hybrid on premises application configurations.Experience with DBT.Highly developed analytical and problem-solving skills including the ability to analyse and interpret requirements and information from numerous sources.Time management and ability to balance competing demands to effectively prioritise tasks and achieve deadlines, on individual basis as well as for a team.Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to build and maintain relationships with a wide range of stakeholders including the ability to influence senior management and executives.Presenting to a wide range of audiences with varying levels of data analytics capability.Desired: Experience working in an agile squad environment.Other Specific Requirements: Criminal history checkRole Specific Enquiries: Chitrani Gunasekera, Head - Data Solutions,
