Lead – Development Services

• Salary: $110,922 - $127,293 p.a. plus 11% Super
• Permanent, Full-time

About the role
This is a permanent, full-time, Monday to Friday 9.00 am to 5.00 pm position working 35 hours per week. This position is located at the Nowra Administration Building.

Lead and manage the day-to-day operations of the Development Unit. Supervise, coordinate, manage, assess, and process development applications and related / ancillary matters (provision of advice, reports, etc.).

Duties
Reporting directly to the Manager – Development Services, the focus of this position is to:

• Directs and coordinates a Unit within Council to enable Council to function at an optimal level.
• Models leadership behaviours that align with Council’s Leadership Capability Framework and contributes to a culture where staff and stakeholders have confidence in the way the organisation is lead and services are delivered.
• Reports to the Section Manager on areas of functional responsibility making professional recommendations for the Section Manager’s consideration.
• Establishes objectives, timeframes and milestones for the Unit that support the Community Strategic Plan and aligns operational activities accordingly.
• Manages the budget for the Unit and controls expenditure within the approved budget.
• Provides management reports concerning key performance indicators and reviews financial expenditure and income across the Unit, looking for opportunities to control costs and improves business profitability in line with Council’s Long Term Financial Plan.

Skills & Experience
To be successful in the position, you will be/ possess:

• Appropriate tertiary qualifications in Town Planning or related field equivalent to a Bachelor of Town Planning or Urban & Regional Planning
• Extensive experience in the operation and management of the development assessment process.
• Extensive experience in the assessment of development applications pursuant to section 4.15 and 4.55 of the Environmental Planning & Assessment Act 1979.
• Land and Environment Court of NSW experience / knowledge.
• Highly developed report writing and communication skills.
• Current NSW WorkCover Construction Induction Card
• Class C Driver’s Licence
• Proof of Australian residency or citizenship, or authority to work in Australia (visa)
