Gaythorne Community Kindergarten is a unique service. We are a community based not-for-profit kindergarten, with two separate rooms. One space has a traditional Kindy programme operating two 5 day fortnight groups. Our position share Room Leader vacancy is in our other space, affectionately known as our PK or Pre Kindy room. Children are aged from 2 years through to 4 year olds. We have 21 children in Pre Kindy and three Educators with a fourth to do lunch relief etc.
Our licensed hours are 7.15am - 4.45pm, 5 days a week, 48 weeks of the year. We close for four weeks over the Christmas period. Most of our Pre Kindy children are enrolled to participate in our programme during the core hours of 8.30am - 2.30pm but we also offer a Before and After Hours Care option to all children enrolled at the kindergarten.
We are seeking an Educator to join our team who can lead our Educators and support our children and families on these days. Non-contact programming time is rostered for on Wednesdays as this also allows for time and opportunities to collaborate with the Monday/Tuesday Lead Educator. Your rostered hours will cover shifts from 7.00am – 5.00pm. These shifts also incorporate caring for children in the Before and After Hours Care programme.
At GCK we believe that early childhood is a critical learning period in children's lives and that play enables our children to explore, problem solve, develop friendships, imagine, and grow in their capabilities from a holistic perspective. We provide an inclusive environment, natural play spaces, and recognise the need for sustainable practices.
Being a community-based Kindergarten means our families play an extremely important role in the management of the Kindergarten. We are located adjacent to the Enoggera army base so are afforded exceptional opportunities for our children to link to Community.
