Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the preparation of Council’s Annual Budget and Quarterly Revised Budgets, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives.
- Conduct detailed analysis and review of Council's financial performance, providing insights and recommendations to drive financial efficiency and effectiveness.
- Develop and maintain Council’s financial reporting framework, ensuring accuracy and compliance with legislative requirements.
- Collaborate with stakeholders across the organisation to support budgeting processes, risk management, and strategic planning initiatives.
- Drive continuous improvement in financial systems and processes to enhance efficiency and transparency.
- Provide mentorship and guidance to finance team members, fostering a culture of excellence and collaboration.
Qualifications and Skills:
Mandatory qualifications and licences:
- Current C (Car) Class Driver Licence
- Relevant Degree in Accounting or Commerce or in a related field
Desirable qualifications and licences:
- CPA Qualified
Required Skills and Experience:
- Proven experience in Financial Planning, budgeting, and Analysis, preferably in a public sector or local government environment.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data and provide strategic recommendations.
- Proficiency in financial software and systems, including Excel and Authority.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
- A proactive and results-oriented approach, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
