The (DCE) Lead Planning Officer will supervise, coach and manage the initial scope for the Hobart Destroyer Enhancement period, the role would assist a small team of production planners responsible for a broad range of production planning activities.
This role will interface between the design authority, Production Engineering and Production to achieve an efficient strategy for delivering the requested capability in the timeframe specified, suited to the proposed equipment and facilities. The DCE Project Planning Lead assists the DCE Planning Manager in planning Business Unit (BU) wide capability development.
Your key responsibilities will include (however not limited to):
- Support the development of Engineering/Maintenance Planning policies, plans or processes required to support the DCE Program of Work.
- Support and provide input to Combined Services Performance Reviews, specific to the delivery of Maintenance and/or Engineering services
- Action, report on and achieve successful closure of all Maintenance/Engineering Planning administrative actions and ensure technical reporting/recording processes have been followed
- Support the development and maintenance of a Maintenance Management System, in accordance with the approved Maintenance Management Plan
- Support the Capability Life-Cycle Manager (CLCM) team in the development and acquittal of Annual Work Package (AWP) and Five Year Work Package (FYWP) for the platform undergoing or following CEIP Programs of Work
- Lead, plan and develop the DCE ExtMP Work Package and support coordination of TML work instruction development
- Support Estimation & Pricing (E&P) services required to support delivery of each DCE Program of Work
- Support the development of the ExtMP Production Master Schedule in conjunction with the Platform Installer
- Support the identification and development of Set to Work (STW), Test and Trials, Harbour Acceptance Trials (HATs) and Sea Acceptance Trials (SATs) planning ahead of the ExtMP
- Work in conjunction with the DCE PMO lead team and program stakeholders to identify Continuous Improvement (CI) opportunities, develop process improvements and implementation of solutions
- Maintain the production system data integrity and accuracy in support of timely/ accurate production reporting
- Liaise with Production and supporting functions to validate build plans, design information, material supply, associated schedules and resource requirements
- Support production planning engagement with IM&T to increase the digital capabilities within the Planning team
- May be designated the SME within the production planning team and as a result provide cross-functional support to the business
- Develop and actively manage the required training and development needs for the work centre team in accordance with the Planning Competency Matrix and group succession plans
- Trade qualification or at least 7 years working in an engineering or manufacturing environment
- Engineering qualifications and Project Management fundamentals (desirable)
- Significant experience in a Production, Scheduling/ Production Planning type role, preferably in the heavy engineering industries or equivalent tertiary qualifications or production trade experience
- Demonstrated experience in the ability to read and interpret technical drawings
- Demonstrated understanding of Engineering, Supply Chain and Operations requirements and processes with the understanding of Quality and Configuration Control
- Demonstrated knowledge of Manufacturing Resource Planning (MRP) processes and toolsets
- Ability to interact effectively with colleagues within and outside immediate team, to implement business requirements
- Well-developed self-management skills and demonstrated ability to work under own initiative to deliver outputs to time, quality and cost
- Knowledge of effective use of Planning and scheduling processes, systems and tools
- Ability to communicate and build relationships with people at all levels of the organisation, i.e. good interpersonal, verbal and written skills
- Ability to make independent judgements and decisions relating to the planners circle of influence
- Ability to train and mentor others as required
As Defence security clearance is required for this role, applicants must be Australian citizens and eligible to obtain and maintain appropriate clearance.
