We value working collaboratively with our internal & external customers to improve service delivery.About Your OpportunityAs the Senior Planning Officer - Approvals, you will provide professional services and support aimed at ensuring the on time delivery of approvals and advice for the planning and delivery of the capital program. You will work autonomously to provide expert technical planning and approvals advice to Project Managers. You will communicate and negotiate with local, state to ensure Seqwater's interests and outcomes are achieved.Key responsibilities:
- Develop and deliver planning approvals for capital and opex projects.
- Negotiate with councils and regulators including progression of development applications and approvals (local, state).
- Coordinate and support the project team to deliver supporting documentation to enable delivery of project approvals.
- Provide high level technical and scientific planning advice in relation to approval coordination and strategies.
- Develop and maintain projects risk assessments and development of management systems to manage planning approval risks.
- Be the key planning interface between Seqwater and project consultants and subconsultants on minor works projects.
- Tertiary qualifications in town planning or urban and regional planning.
- Strong demonstrated experience in a similar role.
- Expert level verbal communication and interpersonal skills to effectively liaise,
- influence and negotiate with key stakeholders, external and internal clients, team members, regulatory authorities, and consultation groups.
- Highly developed written communication and computer literacy skills, including project scheduling and budget management.
- Demonstrated in depth understanding of planning and environmental legislation and approvals frameworks.
- Unrestricted Class C Driver's Licence.
- Experience with land and water management and/ or of water supply organisations
- Postgraduate qualification in town planning or urban and regional planning or environmental planning (desirable)
