YOUR ROLE
As the Lead Risk Consultant within the distribution team, you will be responsible for driving effective management and uplift of operational risk in the Direct Insurance Australian Division.
In this role, you will oversee and undertake risk identification management, mitigation and reporting alongside business owners aligned to the IAG Risk Management Strategy, Risk Management Framework and Risk Appetite Statement.
You will be an advocate for driving risk maturity uplift and improvement in operational risk culture within the Direct Insurance Customer Growth division. A critical success factor for the role is the ability to engage broadly and communicate effectively within IAG at all levels to influence a practical understanding of Operational Risk.
You'll have the opportunity to utilise your leadership skills by coaching and mentoring a team of consultants, and influence the business through risk assessment, control design and testing, risk event and issue management lifecycles and third-party risk management assistance. Ideally, you will have come from a background in general insurance, underwriting or distribution.
This is a permanent role and can be based in all major cities in Australia.
ABOUT YOU
- Professional mindset with strong stakeholder management skills, passionate about partnering for success
- Underwriting experience or strong understanding of underwriting process
- Experience in General insurance or financial services industry
- You will have strong risk management experience, ideally in a first line of defence and business acumen
- Tertiary qualifications in Risk Management preferred, or Economics/Accounting/Finance/Law or related fields desired
- Experience leading a team, ideally in a risk environment
- Relevant industry or specialism qualifications e.g.: ANZIIF, AS/NZSISO 31000:2009 (Risk management -principles and guidelines)
- Developed understanding of the regulatory environment, compliance obligations and effective controls
- Formal written and communication skills
- Highly organised, with high attention to detail and forward planning
- Excellent stakeholder management skills
