- Fortescue's Chichester hub is located on the traditional lands of the Palyku and Nyiyaparli peoples.

Reporting to the Asset Compliance Superintendent, the Senior Structural Engineer is responsible for leading a technical civil/Structural Engineering team to manage the structural integrity of the Fortescue assets across Chichester Hub - OPF as per Structural Integrity Management Process and the Compliance Roadmap.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide safety leadership to effectively identify and manage technical risks.
- Lead a team of Civil/Structural engineers to inspect, assess and maintain the condition of Fortescue assets.
- Create, review & approve documents to approved specifications, codes & standards.
- Manage technical queries with manufacturers, consultants & third-party contractors.
- Performing or managing via third party, the design checks on existing structures to confirm adequacy for a new operational requirement (eg such as new lifting points or maintenance platforms etc).
- Providing other Structural Engineering support to operational teams as may be required.
- Undertaking design of structures to support internal project and operational teams.
- Peer review of calculations and other technical advice produced by internal peers.
- Development coaching and mentoring of team members.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop innovative and cost-effective engineering solutions.
- Conduct site visits and inspections to ensure adherence to design and safety standards.
- Stay current with industry trends, codes, and regulations to maintain the highest level of engineering excellence.
- Bachelor of Structural/Civil Engineering (recognised by IEAust), M. Eng is preferred.
- 10+ years' experience related to the mining/mineral processing, construction or oil and gas sector.
- Sound knowledge of Australian Regulations, Standards & Codes and the ability to interpret them effectively (such as WHSR 2022, AS1170, AS4100, AS1657 and AS3600).
- Advanced experience with development of technical engineering documents, drawings, schedules, and models.
- Innovative and flexible approach to problem solving, an ability to analyse and resolve complex issues.
- Site experience during construction and commissioning is preferred.
- Proven ability to manage a team of design professionals.
- CPEng registered Structural Engineer or working towards getting CPEng
- Structural design experience in reinforced concrete and structural steelwork
- Experience with 3D modelling Structural Engineering software package/s (such as SpaceGass) and working knowledge of FE modelling.
- Team oriented and highly self-motivated.
- Excellent written and verbal communication, planning and logistics skills.
