About the Team
The Financial Lines Claims team has five locations across the Pacific including Sydney, Melbourne, Auckland, Perth and Brisbane. Known for its technical leadership across Financial Lines and particularly in D & O, the team provides bespoke services to insureds and brokers in relation to all types of Financial Lines claims.
Reporting to the Head of Financial Lines Claims, Pacific you will manage a portfolio of AIG's largest claims including professional indemnity, D&O and management liability claims, in accordance with AIG's Proactive Claims Management guidelines.
About the role
The purpose of this role is to handle Financial Lines 'Major Loss' claims that have the highest level of complexity and have a higher monetary exposure to the company. This may include coverage determinations, investigating the loss, conducting an independent assessment as to the company's exposure, participation in developing and implementing the most cost effective and timely resolution of the claim, and quantum analysis, ensuring mitigation of indemnity and expense exposure while communicating developments and outcomes as necessary to all key internal and external stakeholders. May also include cross-border claims handling, including awareness of legal and regulatory systems outside "home" jurisdiction.
What you need to know
Key accountabilities will include but not limited to:
- Managing Major Loss claims handling enquiry, coverage determination, quantum analysis and legal liability assessment, where appropriate.
- Prepares and evaluates investigation strategies, which identify critical issues affecting liability, causation and damages.
- Ensuring effective vendor and litigation management on Major Loss claims within a personal allocation
- Reporting key claims messages to Senior Claims Management
- Broader internal / external stakeholder communication where required, as Financial LinesTechnical Claims expert and thought leader
- Delivery of technical training to colleagues as appropriate.
- Represent AIG Financial Lines claims expertise on external technical panels and / or industry forums
- Financial control through consistent reserve and other financial transaction discipline
What we're looking for
- Excellent communication skills, both written & verbal
- Strong presentation skills
- Time management - ability to manage & prioritise workload and diary management
- Experienced in stakeholder management, both internal (underwriting, distribution) and external (brokers, major account clients)
- Strong specialist knowledge in Major Loss Financial LinesTechnical Claims topics (ideally with construction expertise)
- Policy language skills enabling accurate and consistent policy wording interpretation Market Leading knowledge of legal / regulatory and litigation / procedural requirements
- Ability to manage claims outside local jurisdiction where appropriate, including, regular interaction with claims team in originating jurisdiction and ensure regular reporting in both locations
