Position Overview:
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Lead Therapist to join our team of allied health professionals. As a Lead Therapist, you will play a central role in shaping and delivering our therapy programs. You will lead a multidisciplinary team of therapy assistants / therapists to ensure the effective implementation of individualised plans and the attainment of participants' goals.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and oversee the implementation of therapy programs based on play based therapy activities and individualised care plans for autistic and neurodiverse children.
- Provide leadership and direction to a team of therapy assistants / therapists.
- Conduct comprehensive assessments to identify participants' strengths, needs, and goals, and develop customised intervention plans to support their progress and development.
- Monitor participants' progress and adjust therapy plans as necessary to optimise outcomes and promote self-regulation, self-acceptance, and confidence.
- Maintain accurate documentation and records of sessions, assessments, and participant progress in compliance with professional standards and regulatory requirements.
- Stay abreast of best practices, research, and advancements in the fields of occupational therapy, social work, and autism/neurodiversity support.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Occupational Therapy, Social Work, or simliar / a related field.
- Registration with the relevant professional body (e.g., AHPRA, AASW) and eligibility for membership.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience working in a therapy or support role with autistic and neurodiverse children.
- Demonstrated leadership abilities, including the capacity to lead and motivate a team, delegate responsibilities effectively, and cultivate a collaborative and supportive work environment.
- Strong grasp of occupational therapy/ speech therapy and/or social work principles, theories, and interventions, with an emphasis on fostering inclusion, participation, and social-emotional well-being.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the capability to build rapport with children, families, and team members from diverse backgrounds.
- Ability to work autonomously and as part of a multidisciplinary team, with a flexible and adaptable approach to meeting participants' needs and organisational requirements.
- Commitment to ongoing professional development and continuous improvement.
- Compassionate, patient, and empathetic approach to supporting children with diverse needs.
- Current First Aid and CPR certification (or willingness to obtain).
- Ability to pass a Working with Children Check, NDIS Worker Screening Check and National Police Check.
