With a 7,7 days only residential roster, allows for every second weekend at home. Our people return home every day and enjoy a thriving town of 23,000 people. You will always have something to do, go to restaurants, movies, join a gym and sporting activities, play golf, as well as fishing and camping and activities at the lake.This position does offer an attractive relocation package which includes 12 weeks company housing.
The operation is situated on land traditionally owned by the Kalkadoon People and we respect their rights and interests.The roleWe have an exciting opportunity for a Mechanic- Leading Hand role at our 17L South Underground Workshop at our MICO Operation. In this role you will ensure to safely and effectively perform planned and breakdown maintenance tasks by working within a team and promoting site safety standards and ensuring the highest standards of work are conducted and maintained. You will also be assisting the Supervisor by acting in a leadership capacity for the crew.Your key accountabilities and responsibilities include:
- Assist in complying with required Australian standards, mine regulations, environmental standards and any other relevant documents
- Promote and encourage personnel compliance with Glencore’s Environmental Policies and Procedures
- To assist the supervisor by acting in a leadership capacity for the crew.
- To act in supervisor role when supervisor is absent.
- Promote safety initiatives to reduce injuries.
- Encourage personnel to participate in safety-related activities
- Identify potential improvements to work practices and conditions
- Be proactive in maintaining competencies as specified in the UM1T Training Plan
- Assist in managing and coordinating time and priorities for self and team
- Identify potential safety and cost-saving initiatives
- To assist in achieving budgeted KPIs for the department
- Ensure that SWI, JSEA’s and PRA/SLAM’s are being used within the crews
- To contribute positively to the team environment, operate safely and assist with delivery of production targets within budget.
- Trade Qualified Mechanic or Relevant Trade
- Valid Australian Manual Drivers Licence
- S1,2,3
- 5 years mining experience
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite- Word, Excel and Outlook
- Knowledge of SAP operating system would be an advantage.
- Fixed plant experience
- Demonstrated knowledge of risk management, safety systems and legislative requirements for mining operations
- Experience supervising and developing large work teams to deliver business outcomes
