We are currently seeking a proactive and positive Leading Hand to oversee manufacturing operations at our client’s production centre in Largs North. This hands-on role involves providing leadership to manufacturing operatives, ensuring adherence to production schedules and tasks. The primary focus is on producing high-quality feeds efficiently, exceeding customer expectations while complying with company policies, including Health and Safety, Environmental, and HACCP standards. This role is a permanent salaried position, offering annual and personal leave entitlements.Key Responsibilities include: * Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) Compliance:
- Ensure a safe workplace by enforcing legislative and company OH&S policies.
- Identify and mitigate workplace risks through regular assessments.
- Collaborate with management to develop and uphold safety policies and procedures.
- Provide training to employees on equipment usage and promote a culture of safety.
- Team Management:
- Lead and manage a team to ensure they are fully trained and competent.
- Facilitate effective shift handovers and maintain site security during non-operational hours.
- Staffing and Scheduling:
- Optimize staffing levels to meet production requirements and maintain quality standards.
- Implement efficient production schedules to meet customer delivery times.
- Monitor and manage raw material and consumable demand to minimize stock holding while ensuring availability.
- Production Efficiency:
- Drive peak efficiency in manufacturing operations while maintaining quality standards.
- Minimize downtime, wastage, and rework through proactive management.
- Maintain accurate production records and provide regular reports to management.
- Product Quality Assurance:
- Uphold Quality Assurance criteria and ensure compliance with relevant standards.
- Promptly address incidents and mitigate risks to prevent reoccurrence.
- Oversee product sampling, testing, and recording to maintain consistent quality.
- Collaborate with external testing facilities as needed to uphold product standards
- Formal qualifications and / or 5+ years’ operating experience working in animal feed manufacturing or other food manufacturing.
- Relevant experience operating machinery and equipment in a manufacturing environment.
- Current licenses for telehandler, tractors, forklifts, and other agricultural equipment.
- Knowledge of HACCP, Feedsafe and Quality Assurance Management Systems.
- Knowledge of Safe Manual Handling Procedures.
- Strong analytical, numerical, and communication abilities
- Availability for day shifts Mon-Fri
- Own vehicle and current driver's license.
- Working Rights in Australia
