The Opportunity
Reporting to the Executive Manager, Organisation Capability, the L&D Design Specialist is a key role in WSA's training program as we prepare for opening.
You'll design, implement and evaluate our learning and development programs to enhance the skills, knowledge, competencies and capabilities of our teams.
You'll collaborate with stakeholders to identify training needs, develop effective learning and assessment solutions and measure the impact of training initiatives on organisational performance.
This is a 2-year maximum term position. Beyond then, WSA will continue to be a place of real opportunity.
Key responsibilities
- Design and implement training strategies that align with WSA's goals and objectives
- Facilitate WSA's Training Needs Analysis, conducting a thorough review and assessment using surveys, interviews and data analysis
- Collaborate closely with stakeholders to identify gaps in skills, knowledge, and behaviours across the current and future workforce
- Analyse aviation and safety industry regulations, national training frameworks, and best practice standards to inform recommendations for training and assessment solutions
- Develop comprehensive reports outlining training needs and provide clear recommendations for addressing gaps
- Develop and manage training design schedules to ensure the timely creation and delivery of training programs
- Liaise with instructional Design Specialists (if required) regarding resource needs
- Create engaging and interactive training materials such as presentations, manuals, videos, and e-learning modules, leveraging multimedia Design Specialists
- Ensure that all training materials are up-to-date, accurate, and compliant with regulatory requirements.
- Facilitate training sessions in both classroom and virtual environments to accommodate diverse learning styles
- Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment that encourages active participation and engagement
- Implement evaluation measures to assess the effectiveness of training programs and identify areas for improvement
- Collect feedback from participants through surveys, focus groups and interviews
About You
- Bachelor's degree in Education, Human Resources, or a related field (Master's degree preferred).
- Certified Training and Development Professional (CTDP) or equivalent certification preferred such as Certificate IV in Training & Assessment
- eLearning authoring tool qualifications (highly desirable)
- Experience conducting training needs assessments, designing training programs, and delivering engaging training sessions.
- Strong knowledge of instructional design principles, adult learning theory and learning technologies.
- Creative thinker with the ability to design and implement innovative programs.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to communicate complex concepts clearly and effectively.
- Highly organized with strong project management skills and attention to detail.
- Familiarity with learning management systems (LMS) and other training-related software.
- Experience in event planning and coordination.
- Excellent communication, presentation and negotiation skills.
- Proactive, resourceful with demonstrated initiative and ability to work autonomously on specific projects as required.
- Excellent skills and experience building trusting and collaborative relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Ability to work on a range of projects simultaneously and meet tight deadlines.
