Learning Support Officer

Role Description/Criteria

We are seeking an enthusiastic, innovative and skilled Learning Support Officer (LSO) willing to work collaboratively in an open learning environment as part of our team. The successful applicant will work with students with various needs and abilities across all learning areas under the direction of teachers and with the support and direction of the Learning Diversity Leader. The position is for the 2024 school year, Monday to Friday from 8.30am am to 3.30 pm - adjustments can be made for a suitable applicant.

Role Description:

• Assist students on an individual or group basis in specific learning areas and programs as directed by student PLPs and/or the homegroup teacher
• Maintain records of student observation and student progress
• Implement Intervention programs with students
• Help maintain a positive learning environment for students
• Have the ability to conduct small group specialised intervention programs under the training and guidance of the Learning Diversity Leader
• Have the ability to conduct data collection and recording processes under the guidance of the classroom teachers, Community Coach & Learning Diversity Coach
• Liaise with cohort teachers in the first instance and the Learning Diversity Leader
• Assist with the clerical duties associated with classroom activities e.g. preparation of equipment or resources
• Attend to the first aid needs of students during break times as per the first aid duty roster
• Adhere to school policies and procedures
• Pursue and participate in professional learning: school based, systemic, regional and other sourced programs
• Attend school LSO meetings (held within working hours)

Special Requirements:

• Adhere to St Clare's Child Safety Policy and Code of Conduct and other policies relevant to Ministerial Order 1359
• An ability to work collaboratively to support and contribute to the building of a professional learning culture
• Current Working With Children Check
• Current National Criminal Record Check
• Current Level 2 First Aid would be an advantage
• Certificate of Education Support / Integration would be an advantage
