The position
We are seeking an experienced, motivated, and enthusiastic Learning Support Officer to work our teachers in assisting students that have a variety of individual learning needs. Support will focus on Senior School students, in particular Year 10. This role is offered as a full time position for Terms 3 and 4, 2024.
Responsibilities of the role will include:
- Assist the Teacher to develop a stimulating learning environment by using a variety of styles and approaches to cater for individual learning needs
- In consultation with Teachers and Head of Learning Diversity employ a variety of strategies to effectively implement the curriculum
- Arrange appropriate amount of time for lesson preparation and organisation as requested
- Be familiar with the standards of professional practice as articulated in the Australian Standards of Teaching and the Catholic Education Commission of Victoria (CECV), where appropriate
- Embrace the use of Information and Communications Technologies
- Provide meaningful and timely feedback to parents, through approved communication channels
- Ensure compliance with OH&S Policy and Procedures
- Maintain excellent communication and relationships with students and staff
- Liaise with appropriate support staff, where appropriate, in the implementation of the curriculum – e.g. Learning Diversity department, Library staff
About You
To be successful in this position, it is essential that you have:
- Experience working as an Integration Aide/Classroom Assistant/Learning Support Officer
- Experience supporting Senior School students with individual learning needs
- Ability to build, establish and maintain relationships
- A collaborative approach with colleagues
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent time management and organisational skills
- Demonstrated desire to apply a growth mindset to professional development.
- Commitment to actively participate in the co-curricular and pastoral activities of the School
- A current Working with Children Check (employee)
- Relevant tertiary qualifications would be highly regarded
