Job description

  • Based in Allied Health and Human Performance at the City East campus
  • Full-time, two (2) year fixed term contract
  • Commencement Salary: $96,929 (Level A) $109,074 (Level B) per annum (plus 17% superannuation)

About the Role 

This position is primarily focussed on the delivery of teaching and associated administrative duties within the Academic Unit’s undergraduate and/or postgraduate program and the facilitation of student learning in a clinical setting. It will work with guidance and direction from other academic staff and undertake duties with increasing autonomy as the staff member gains skills and experience. 

The Lecturer in Clinical Exercise Physiology utilises contemporary professional/discipline-related knowledge in their teaching practice and carries out activities to develop scholarly expertise.

UniSA Allied Health and Human Performance is also home to UniSA research concentration: Innovation, Implementation & Clinical Translation in Health (iIMPACT) which focusing particularly on persistent pain and breathlessness, rural health and stroke recovery and UniSA research centre Alliance for Research in Exercise, Nutrition and Activity (ARENA), which investigates the role of exercise, nutrition and other lifestyle activities in improving clinical and health outcomes.

Core Responsibilities 

  • Under direction, prepare and conduct learning activities including lectures, tutorials, assessment and provide timely feedback to students
  • Facilitate student learning in a clinical setting 
  • Undertake clinical Exercise Physiology consultations and deliver services for a broad range of clients under the breadth eligible compensable schemes (eg. Medicare, RTWSA, DVA, NDIS, PHI) 
  • Use a variety of pedagogical techniques (including face-to-face, online and blended learning) to foster student learning
  • Undertake high quality teaching as part of the teaching team, including participation in moderation of marking exercises and benchmarking

Essential Skills and Experience 

  • A Bachelor degree in Clinical Exercise Physiology or a relevant discipline combined with current registration and accreditation, or eligibility for registration and accreditation, as an Exercise Physiologist with Exercise and Sports Science Australia (ESSA)
  • Clinical practice experience and leadership as a Clinical Exercise Physiologist including a high proportion of Clinical Exercise prescription activity in occupation rehabilitation and/or chronic disease management
  • A demonstrated ability to provide teaching and clinical supervision of Clinical Exercise Physiology students
  • A demonstrated capacity to provide discipline input to the Clinical Exercise Physiology curriculum including program accreditation and benchmarking processes
  • High level written and oral communication skills including demonstrated ability to effectively collaborate with team members, external parties and colleagues
