Job Description

The Lecturer in Medical Education is expected to make contributions to the teaching effort of the School of Medicine and Dentistry and to carry out activities to maintain and develop scholarly, research and/or professional activities relevant to the discipline of medicine.

The Lecturer in Medical Education makes a significant contribution to curriculum development, course delivery, and assessment in Phases 1 and 2 of the Doctor of Medicine program, with a focus on teaching, learning and assessment of foundational medical sciences and communication skills.

The incumbent will support the School’s educational mission in relation to the medical program. They will contribute to the implementation of high-quality learning and assessment activities in the Doctor of Medicine program. The incumbent will also contribute to the broader mission of the School, through scholarly and service activities as negotiated with their Academic Supervisor.

A Lecturer is expected to carry out independent and/or team research and may supervise postgraduate research students.

This is a continuing, full-time position and will be primarily based at the Sunshine Coast Health Institute adjacent to the Sunshine Coast University Hospital. As Griffith is a multi-campus University you may be required to work across other campus locations. Griffith University’s campuses are located on the lands of the Yugarabul, Yuggera, Jagera, Turrbal, Yugambeh and Kombumerri peoples.

Salary Range
The full-time equivalent base salary will be Academic Lecturer (Level B) range $108,298 - $128,608 per annum + 17% superannuation. The total FTE package will be in the range $126,708- $150,471 per annum.

Qualifications

To be eligible for the position, you will:

  • Possess a doctoral or masters qualification of equivalent accreditation and standing and/or significant progress towards completion of a doctoral degree in a relevant discipline or field.
  • Possess a medical degree from a recognised educational institution is a desirable criterion.

In addition, you will have demonstrated ability to:

  • Foster an outstanding student experience and encourage active participation and engagement in learning and teaching across undergraduate and postgraduate programs facilitating high quality, student-centred learning activities; and
  • Undertake leadership responsibilities in the development and delivery of content in the Doctor of Medicine curriculum, including convenorship of courses and modules, as well as assessment in Phases 1 and 2.
