Lecturer - Indigenous Allied Health 

Fremantle Campus  

Level B, Part time (2.5 days negotiable), continuing position (to commence ASAP)

To perform this position, it is essential that the person be an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person. It is a genuine occupational requirement, under section 50(d) of the Equal Opportunity Act 1984 (WA) that applicants are Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people.   

This position reports to the National Head of School, School of Health Sciences and forms part of the academic staff teams within the Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy and Exercise Science programs.  The position will contribute to the development and operationalisation of governance functions for the School.    

Key responsibilities   

  • Development and delivery of course materials and learning experiences within foundational Health Sciences courses (and/or as matches the expertise of the successful applicant)
  • Providing cultural guidance and leadership to inform the programs in Indigenous health curriculum and cultural safety 
  • Operationalising and governing the Indigenous student alternate entry and internal equity pathways
  • Consultation with students including pastoral care and academic support 
  • Undertaking scholarship/research/advocacy relevant to area of professional expertise and aligned with the directions of the program and University 
  • Other duties as directed by the Head of School/Program Coordinators

ABOUT YOU   

  • Substantial professional experience and/or evidence of progress towards post graduate qualification  
  • Open to either a Registered Occupational Therapist or Physiotherapist with AHPRA or Accredited Exercise physiologist with ESSA
  • Experience in education material/curriculum delivery and development, which could include undergraduate, postgraduate or professional level education
  • Demonstrated administrative and highly developed organisational skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and as a member of a multidisciplinary team
  • Demonstrated high level excellent oral and written communication skills
  • To be eligible for this position, you must provide a statement and supporting documentation that addresses how you meet each of the following criteria for Aboriginality

i) be of Australian Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander descent; and  

ii) identify as an Australian Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander; and  

iii) be accepted as such by the community in which they live or have lived.  

 Supporting documentation may include, but is not limited to, a letter of Aboriginality signed under the common seal from a recognised incorporated Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander Community organisation such as Land Council or Elders group, Aboriginal Medical Service or a letter on letterhead from a Local Aboriginal Land Council demonstrating membership of the Council.
