About the opportunityThe School of Medical Sciences is recognised as one of the leading centres for medical science education in the world. Our team of educators and researchers lead internationally competitive research from molecules to medicines, from patient to policy across a range of therapeutic areasWe are seeking to appoint a Lecturer, Clinical Education in Anatomy/Basic Medical Sciences who will be crucial in making significant contribution to teaching and learning practice and will engage in educational leadership within the school. A primary duty of the role will be to provide teaching and learning at the the School of Rural Health, Dubbo/Orange, as well as the Camperdown and Westmead Campuses of the University, as part of our commitment to the broadest and most diverse engagement in training in health.Your key responsibilities will be to:
  • undertake teaching and coaching of students within a simulated or real clinical setting, applying clinical experience and expertise to inform best practice teaching
  • engage in high-quality teaching and learning experiences which meet the university's expectations and standards for education
  • develop teaching, subject and assessment materials under the supervision of more senior clinicians or academic staff
  • apply clinical knowledge and expertise to innovate teaching and learning, including developing resources and innovative practices
  • provide mentoring and guidance to students, role modelling effective patient interaction and care
  • provide training and support to other academic staff on effective, innovative and contemporary clinical practice
  • carry out administrative tasks and contribute to faculty/school meetings
  • actively represent the University in partner organisations, clinical settings, and the community, maintaining productive links between the university and clinical or industry partners.
About you
  • PhD in a relevant area
  • a proven ability, commitment and passion for engaging in scholarly activities to inform innovative pedagogical practice and understand clinical teaching practices
  • deep and broad experience in teaching and learning in a tertiary environment, as evidenced by participation in team teaching within an established program and experience in teaching in a variety of settings
  • demonstrated success in designing, implementing and evaluating teaching and learning initiatives
  • developing network of relationships with key academic, industry and professional institutions, partners and stakeholders
  • experience in supervising or mentoring others and/or coordinating team activities.
