Land Specialists consists of a team of planning and property experts and specialist lawyers who obtain approvals for land estates from Councils and the Land and Environment Court of NSW. We are looking for a hard-working and dedicated Legal Administration Assistant to be responsible for administrative duties, to ensure the efficient and smooth running of our office, and to perform basic legal tasks under supervision.
We project manage large residential subdivisions ($250M+) and appear in the Land and Environment Court for planning and property related matters.
The successful candidate will develop their administrative and legal skills, learning from the Land Specialists team, including our Director who has been a University law lecturer for many years, has an enviable litigation record in various Courts and Tribunals, and is a Harvard graduate.
The role is part-time 4 days, or 3 and a half days per week, with hours negotiable. Remuneration is also negotiable based on experience.
Responsibilities:
- Liaison with councils and law firms
- Drafting leases
- Drafting contracts using precedents
- Diary management and reminders for the Director
- Creating files for new projects
- Preparing briefs for counsel
- Legal research
- Property research
- General office upkeep and support for lawyers
- Drafting and posting letters
- Communication with contractors to arrange quotes
- Ad-hoc support tasks as required by the team
Personal attributes:
- Studying law or have experience as a legal secretary or paralegal.
- Great organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
- Great interpersonal, oral and written communication skills, with an ability to engage and communicate with all stakeholders
- Competence in Microsoft Office Suite
- Ability to work well under pressure and in high stress environments
- Switched on with a proactive mindset
- Exceptional attention to detail
