About the role
With a strong growth projection in play, the need has arisen for experienced in-house Legal Counsel to join the Head of Governance, Risk and Legal team on an initial 6-month fixed term contract. You will provide generalist legal advice on corporate and property law, while supporting senior management in contractual and tender documents as part of growth aspirations. Your duties may include:
- Manage litigation, disputes, and potential claims
- Review and provide legal advice on various areas of law including community housing law, tenancy law, property, corporate and commercial transactions, contracts, governance, privacy, intellectual property etc
- Review, draft and negotiate contracts and deeds
- Advise the business on procurement contracts
- Support compliance and risk, to ensure legislative compliance and good corporate governance
- Review and advise on privacy issues and disclosure of information, and manage complex requests for information
As a current practicing Legal Counsel, you will have 5 years PQE and be an independent self-starter that is happy to manage and own all the end-to-end responsibilities of the role. You will also have:
- Effective stakeholder management, analytical and negotiation skills
- Proven ability to effectively manage risks while maximizing commercial opportunities
- Proven ability to formulate practical legal solutions, and to minimize and avoid exposure
- Highly developed written and verbal communication skills
- Previous experience in commercial, corporate, or property law
- Current practicing certificate and admission to the Supreme Court of New South Wales
