Senior Legal Counsel - Fintech (Commercial & Regulatory)

JS Careers is currently working with a leading FinTech firm supporting with the appointment of a Senior Legal Counsel to assist with commercial/contracts law and broader regulatory support.

Reporting to the Head of Legal, Risk & Governance, the successful candidate will have experience in commercial law with exposure to retail lending/consumer credit.

They will work very closely with stakeholders across all areas of the firm in providing commercially orientated legal advice in relation to product development & marketing, IP, regulatory obligations and future growth plans. 

Furthermore, the successful candidate will play a key role in providing regulatory support and advice across the group.

Role responsibilities: 

• Advising on consumer credit code and product disclosure statements; 
• Working closely with the product development function to provide commercial legal advice on the development of new products.
• Managing regulatory body relationships and providing advisory support to the group in relation to any relevant regulatory updates. 
• Reviewing, drafting, and negotiating a broad range of commercial agreements relating to suppliers, vendors, and software and licensing.
• Providing legal and regulatory advice to the business on new products and services and proactively anticipating legal issues and identifying future regulatory requirements.
• Overseeing external counsel on complex matters.

Candidates will be considered from: 

• Top-tier Commercial law firms – with a regulatory & commercial focus.
• In-house legal teams - within retail banking or within a non-bank lender.

Candidates must also have the following: 

• Bachelor of Laws.
• 3+ years PQE within a relevant field.
• Consumer credit/mortgage product exposure. 
• An ability to operate autonomously and to apply sound commercial and risk judgment to various situations.
• A ‘can-do’ and roll-up-your-sleeves attitude.
• Outstanding collaboration and interpersonal skills.
