Reporting to the Head of Legal and collaborating across departments, your responsibilities will include:
- Drafting, reviewing, and negotiating a variety of commercial contracts, including sales, procurement, and government bids, with a focus on SaaS licensing and complex partnerships.
- Managing intellectual property (IP) issues and portfolio, including patents.
- Advising on cybersecurity and technology matters, such as SOC2 compliance.
- Supporting customer and internal stakeholder enquiries related to legal matters.
- Updating standard sales terms for new product releases and working on global legal transformation projects.
- Creating and assisting in compliance programs, policies, training, and regulatory compliance guidance across all geographies.
- Collaborating with other departments to resolve legal issues and improve legal department efficiency.
- Providing legal training to the commercial team and supporting global privacy data needs.
Our clients’ requirements include:
- 5-8 years of post-admission experience in IT, technology, media, telecommunications, or a corporate/commercial law background.
- Bachelor of Law and current Australian practising certificate, or the ability to obtain one.
- Strong experience in drafting and negotiating complex commercial contracts, ideally with SaaS and technology licensing arrangements.
- Experience with intellectual property management preferred.
- Ability to work independently under pressure, prioritise tasks, and manage complex deals.
- Strong interpersonal, commercial, and communication skills for effective partnership and collaboration.
- Quick learning ability and application of insights to new situations.
- High attention to detail, proactive, organised, and resourceful.
- Solid business judgment and understanding of intellectual property issues relevant to a SaaS provider.
