Montgomery Advisory is working with a National Sports Governing Body as they look to welcome a Legal Counsel (4-6 years PAE) to their industry-respected and fast-paced legal team.
The successful candidate will report directly to the General Counsel while working with the broader legal team and stakeholders from the Business Affairs and Integrity Department.
This is a broad and challenging role that requires advice to be provided on a range of commercial and regulatory matters for internal teams including the Commercial and Events, Digital, Finance, Marketing, Technical, and Community departments.
Further Responsibilities Include:
- Assisting in response to privacy and data management-related inquiries and actions
- Advising on content and data strategies and associated privacy compliance issues, including in relation to the collection, use, disclosure, and storage of information
- Assisting in the preparation and implementation of company policies including data and privacy
- Assisting in the delivery of legal and compliance training for various internal stakeholders on privacy, social media, and workplace harassment/safety
- Assisting in the drafting and review of competition regulations relating to sponsorship, ticketing, and events
- Negotiating and drafting a broad array of commercial contracts, including sponsorship, licensing, digital and IT, marketing, confidential information, funding, and event contracts
- Assist with the negotiation and drafting of complex specialist and strategic projects, including those about IT and Digital, professional services, requests for tenders/proposals, and collective bargaining
- Advising on intellectual property rights management including copyright, misleading and deceptive conduct and passing off, and brand protection strategy.
Role Requirements
The successful applicant will have at least 4 years post-admission experience from private practice or in-house, with well-developed technology or privacy skills.
In addition, you will have:
- Expertise in Privacy, Data, Technology, or IP
- Understanding and experience advising in Data Privacy and the Privacy Act 1988 and GDRP
- Strong commercial acumen and the ability to think holistically
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills for building collaborative relationships
- Willingness to actively contribute to a collaborative team environment.
