AddressAustralian Naval Infrastructure Pty Ltd (ANI) is the owner, developer and manager of ship and submarine building infrastructure in support of the Commonwealth’s continuous naval shipbuilding program. Since being formed in 2017, ANI has developed an enviable reputation for delivering significant projects and facilities.
ANI is responsible for the expansion and modernisation of the Osborne Naval Shipyard into a world-class shipbuilding precinct, including design and construction of the nuclear-powered submarine construction yard, and the continued operation and maintenance of Common Use Infrastructure. To support the growth of the team in delivering on this significant program of work, the organisation is now recruiting for another member of the legal team.
Reporting to the General Counsel & Company Secretary, this position will play a key role in supporting multi-disciplinary teams to facilitate the delivery of what will be one of the largest and most complex infrastructure development projects ever undertaken in Australia.
The Legal Counsel will act as an internal legal adviser on a broad range of commercial transactions including contracting and procurement for major projects (design, construction, consultancy and major equipment procurement), general procurement of goods and services in support of ANI’s operations and corporate functions, infrastructure agreements, access agreements, land related transactions, and providing advice on regulatory and corporate governance compliance requirements.
Applications are encouraged from mid-level through to more senior professionals, ideally in commercial, property and corporate practice areas. Previous in-house and construction industry experience will be considered an advantage.
Other important qualities include the ability to demonstrate a suitable degree of initiative and independence in the provision of commercial and practical legal advice on a broad range of issues, have exceptional writing skills and attention to detail, and be an accomplished communicator of legal concepts to non-legally qualified colleagues. Being well organised and results oriented, together with the ability to collaborate using highly effective interpersonal skills and a proactive attitude, are all essential for success in this role.
Applicants must hold a current South Australian practising certificate. As the Osborne Naval Shipyard is listed as critical infrastructure, all applicants must be able to gain and maintain appropriate security clearances (NV1 minimum).
