The Role
Legal Services is seeking a Legal Officer to provide advice and guidance to junior practitioners and administrative support staff in our Family Safety and Support, Litigation Team. You will assist the Team Leader in supporting solicitors with complex family violence matters as well as delivering complex advice, advocacy, and representation.
In this role you will work in two areas, our Women’s Domestic Violence Court Assistance Service (WDVCAS) and our Family Advocacy and Support Services (FASS), and will liaise with our Integrated Services Team who also work closely with victims of domestic violence. Your work will include assisting women who are experiencing domestic and/or family violence to obtain intervention orders and termination of tenancy matters. You will have the opportunity to develop and deliver educational training programs to staff and stakeholders.

Total Indicative Remuneration Package
$112,883 - $124,036 per annum pro rata including salary, superannuation and leave loading.
As a not-for-profit organisation, Legal Services is able to offer its employees attractive salary sacrifice arrangements, including up to $15,900 pre-tax each Fringe Benefit Tax (FBT) year for general living expenses.
Position Status
2 year temporary contract at the LSC3 classification level.
What You Need For Success
The ideal candidate will:
- Hold an unrestricted Category C Practising Certificate or currently eligible to apply for an unrestricted Category C Practising Certificate.
- Be an admitted practitioner of the Supreme Court of South Australia and High Court of Australia.
- Possess a minimum of 5 years post admission legal experience.
- Possess experience in family law, domestic and family violence law and practice in South Australia.
- Demonstrate ability to motivate, mentor and guide junior legal staff to set direction and create cohesive work teams.
- Confidently and efficiently provide complex legal advice by assessing problems logically, thoroughly and reliably with due skill and diligence.
