Peabody is guided by seven core values: safety, customer focus, leadership, people, excellence, integrity and sustainability.About the roleWorking in an effective internal legal function, you will work closely with, and report to our General Counsel, Executive and partner with site leadership across a broad mix of work, focussed on supporting the company's existing (and future) Australian operations, including:
- Providing legal advice regarding contractual arrangements for new operations or expansions/modifications to existing site operations;
- Providing legal advice on environmental law, approvals, mining and exploration related tenure, property etc.;
- Providing legal advice on native title and cultural heritage matters;
- Providing legal advice on health and safety matters;
- Coordinating and managing expert external counsel in the areas of health and safety, regulatory approvals, environment, mining tenure, real property, native title etc; and
- Management of site-based litigation where required.
- Admitted to practice with 8-10 years of experience.
- Experience in managing complex legal issues.
- Excellent written and verbal communications skills with ability to communicate with people in a range of positions.
- Excellent presentation skills.
- Strong business acumen, solution focused and commercial minded.
