Job description

City of Newcastle (CN) is seeking passionate and enthusiastic Library Customer Support Assistants to provide high quality, frontline customer service across our branch locations in a casual employment capacity.

As one of the successful candidates you will represent the values of the Library service and assist in the achievement of both organisational and community outcomes. This position requires broad skills set and an ability to adapt to an ever-changing environment where continuous improvement and consistent, high quality customer service is paramount - face to face, over the phone, and online.

Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to, actively assisting library members and visitors to positively experience and access Newcastle Libraries collections and services; enthusiastically promoting and encouraging participation in library programs and events; communicating in a professional, effective and friendly manner to assist library members and visitors with their needs; using your digital literacy skills to help members and visitors troubleshoot technology issues and access our systems, app and ePlatforms; promoting the use of self-service technologies; as well as helping to create welcoming and inclusive library spaces which are easy to navigate and consistently retailed.

Remuneration: Casual hourly rate of $41.66 (inclusive of 25% casual loading) plus 10.5% super.
