The Opportunity

We seek a highly competent and committed lowrise licensed builder with both estimating and construction management experience who efficiently provides comprehensive pricing on various Building and Construction projects while acting as company nominees under QBCC. The role required an individual who would be fully accountable and responsible for the dwelling home cost estimate and entire tender lifecycle if needed later on. The ideal candidate will be a logical and lateral thinker able to evaluate work methods, investigate alternatives, consider construction techniques, and thoroughly research material/ plant/ labour costs, providing innovative and value-adding solutions for our customers.

This role will suit a high-energy individual looking to make a robust and long-term career in estimating and construction management, including site supervision.

Reporting directly to the CEO, the duties will include, but not be limited to the following:

Duties:

  • Efficiently estimating and supervising multiple sites and their progress
  • Manage budgets and timelines successfully for all projects
  • Tendering for the subcontractors
  • Program and schedule works
  • Engage, organise and liaise with subcontractors
  • Manage OH&S and QA processes
  • Report to management on project progress
  • Determining the total cost of materials, equipment, utilities, and labour for construction projects
  • Researching construction documents and analysing specifications.
  • Preparing estimates for planning, organising, and scheduling project work
  • Managing pre-qualification and pre-bid submissions if required
  • Preparing estimates to meet project goals, such as setting work hours, sequencing tasks, obtaining materials, and securing the best deals with vendors and subcontractors
  • Ensuring that relevant documents and budgets are submitted before a bid deadline
  • Regularly reporting to Management and keeping clients updated on the project status
  • Formulating contingency plans and effectively managing risks that might impact cost and time estimates
  • Keeping track of the latest estimating technology and industry-related techniques
  • Collaborating with other teams, conducting site visits, and providing other services, like bid deliveries, when required
  • Assists architects/draftman and surveyors in planning and organisation
  • Interprets plans, regulations, and codes of practice
  • Calculates costs and estimates time scales
  • Review contracts for signing by CEO
  • Prepare Variation quotes and documentation for signing and review by CEO
  • Assist in preparing processes for the Planning Team
  • Prepare specification documentation
  • Train and oversee the development of cadet and junior office staff

What We Will Love About You:

Your ability to be flexible and have a can-do attitude will ensure that you succeed in this role. You will bring:

  • At least 3+ year experience as a  Estimator / Supervisor in the Home Building and Construction industry
  • Background in Carpentry preferred by not necessary
  • QBCC Builder's License for lowrise, mid-rise or open
  • High-performing communication - Both written and verbal with excellent computer and construction software management skills
  • A tertiary qualification in Engineering, Construction Management or Quantity Surveying would be advantageous
  • The initiative to control cost or produce next-level tenders with our team
  • Skills at interpreting technical drawings and tender documents
  • Ability to monitor market prices, new techniques and cost trends
  • A proven track record of working to strict deadlines
  • A genuine drive to ensure quote follow ups are done on time
  • Exceptional ability to drive a strong culture, promoting our core values to be respectful, patient, flexible, accountable and focused
  • Experience with Estimation and construction management software Programs is a pre-requisite
  • Methodical work ethic and attention to detail and approach to work
  • Teamworking, relationship-building and influencing skills
  • Appreciation of WHS and a keen eye for detail
  • Hold a current QLD driver’s license
