Lifesaving Manager – Maroochydore SLSC
Reporting to the Board of Management, the Lifesaving Manager is a pivotal leadership position for Maroochydore Surf Life Saving Club. The primary purpose for this role is to implement the strategies as directed by the Board of Management, and ensure Maroochydore SLSC meets its statutory obligations to patrol Maroochydore Beach for the safety and protection of the community.
As a future-focused leader, you will play a key role in re-shaping, leading and driving innovation across the Lifesaving, Surf Sports, Member Development & Recognition, and Junior Activities portfolios, ensuring a sustainable and viable organisation now and into the future.
You will develop, lead, and drive the strategic priorities and objectives for the Club and play an integral role in the success of commercial outcomes for Maroochydore SLSC.
To be successful, you will be a passionate purpose and people orientated leader with excellent commercial aptitude, customer centricity and the ability to implement and deliver change initiatives.
You will have advanced communication skills and be able to positively navigate a broad range of member demands often within short timeframes.
Through strong stakeholder relationships and an established network across Surf Life Saving, local sports and industry, this role will advocate for our mission and purpose, whilst ensuring the delivery of programs and services that support our strategic goals and create a positive impact in the community.
You must have excellent teamwork skills with an ability to lead a group of highly motivated administrative staff.

Key Selection Criteria:
- Capable of performing higher order administrative tasks.
- This is a senior role in a large Surf Life Saving organisation, and as such, your experience in a senior leadership role within the Surf Life Saving i or similar organisation is critical.
- Significant skills and experience in managing interpersonal issues, member demands and establishing priorities.
- Experience delivering high-quality programs, engaging support and leadership at a senior level to a small paid workforce and broad volunteer groups.
- A sincere commitment to the Club’s mission and values.
- Demonstrated experience managing and developing paid administrative teams.
- Displays advanced technology skills; particularly Microsoft programs, and those used in lifesaving administration.
- Contract management experience including negotiation and tendering processes to improve financial and service outcomes.
- A proven ability to set and deliver on a strategy in a complex fast-paced organisation.
- Experience building successful relationships with stakeholders including Government representatives, Board, Committees and industry partners.
- Experience managing and reporting on auditing processes.
- Experience monitoring and reporting on financial performance.
- Commitment to work collaboratively with the Manager of the Maroochydore SLS Supporters Club to the mutual benefit of both entities.
- Experience launching and promoting programs, developing community partnerships, and with the Director of Marketing and Promotion attracting and retaining sponsors.
- Demonstrated knowledge of and commitment to compliance, proper governance and risk management.
Qualifications/ Other Requirements
Essential:
Leadership skills in strategy, relationship development, communication, finance, human resource development and customer service
Extensive operational leadership experience in a similar role
Desirable:
Relevant tertiary qualifications in business or sports administration or similar.
Senior management experience within sport and recreation industry.
