The Infrastructure Directorate is the City of Stirling’s largest and most diverse Directorate, managing many of the City’s important assets and services while delivering a multi-million-dollar portfolio of projects.
This Directorate is responsible for the ongoing delivery of the City’s sustainability program, as well as contributing heavily to the City of Stirling’s vibrant local economy, liveable neighbourhoods and thriving communities.
About the Position
The Light Vehicle Mechanic is responsible for undertaking day to day workshop activities as directing, including servicing, repair and maintenance of all Light Vehicles, garden mowers, minor equipment and fixed plant and assisting Heavy Duty Mechanics working with earthmoving equipment where required.
Key Responsibilities
The duties of the Light Vehicle Mechanic will include but are not limited to:
- Monitor and undertake repairs and servicing to Council plant and equipment.
- Assist HD Mechanics on mobile plant and earthmoving where required.
- Test run plant and equipment following repairs.
- Report plant and equipment defect/failure observations to Leading Hand HD Mechanic or Coordinator
About You
The following qualifications and experience are highly desired, but if you don’t tick all the boxes, you could still be a perfect fit for this role. Please apply, all applications will be considered.
- A relevant Trade Certificate and demonstrated experience as an auto mechanic.
- High Risk Forklift Ticket
- Working knowledge of vehicle diagnostic systems and methods
- Sound knowledge or servicing and maintenance of plant, including Light Vehicles, garden mowers, minor equipment and fixed plant.
- Ability to produce accurate and timely repair reports.

This temporary full-time position is a Level 6 Outside Workforce Agreement positions which attract a salary from $72,715 - $76,547 gross pro rata per annum plus superannuation.
To be eligible to work for us, you need to provide, or have ability obtain a:
- A copy of Australian Driver’s Licence.
- National Police Clearance (valid within the last 3 months).
- Pre-Employment Medical and DAS clearance.
- The right to work in Australia.
