Your new role
As a Linux Administrator, you will take control of the full solution by administering, maintaining, automating, and improving the physical, logical, hypervisor cluster, Storage, Graphics & Network and will be instrumental in the transition from IaaS to PaaS.
Role and responsibilities:
- Manage the on-prem RedHat Enterprise Virtualization (RHEV) based infrastructure.
- Ensure the optimal performance and availability of the environment supporting internal tests and development activities.
- Provide day-to-day operational support including responding to incidents, troubleshooting, and executing corrective action.
- Interact with vendors to help resolve problems by opening a service call, sharing logs and events and working with vendor to resolve the issue.
- Ensure effective security, operation and peak performance of Linux server and virtualization management environments.
- Ensure that all supported environments are monitored to provide alerts when there are problems, including performance.
- Ensure that all supported infrastructure environments are fully documented, including procedures for their use and management.
- Provide high-availability operational support and automate solutions across the infrastructure.
- Introduce a hybrid on-prem & cloud solutions to allow the environment to scale out and match variable and increasing performance needs.
What you need to succeed
- Australian Citizenship or Australian Permanent Residency is mandatory.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Electronics, Computer Science, IT, or other relevant qualification.
- Must have solid experience with the Red Hat Linux Operating Systems.
- Solid experience with Linux Operating systems (RHEL), Clustering Technologies, Red Hat satellite, Red Hat Identity Manager (IPA), Linux hosts Virtualization (Red Hat Virtualization, KVM).
- Experience in IP networking and Bash / Python programming.
- Storage experience (NAS, SAN, NetApp and MSA storages).
- Familiarity with a wide range of computer and networking hardware (preferably HPE and Cisco).
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to write clear and concise documents that clearly articulate complex technical detail.
- Flexibility to work outside of business hours if required.
