They provide advanced and rapidly evolving biomedical technologies, data infrastructure and world class clinical research expertise to support a diverse range of projects. THE OPPORTUNITYThe Data Science Platform (DSP) enables data intensive medical research.
We build storage and compute platforms, implement, and contribute to open source software, process large volumes of data and utilise statistics and machine learning/AI to analyse complex datasets. Our expertise spans the continuum of data science: computational biology, production bioinformatics, software engineering and research computing. Since the Data Science Platform was established in late 2021, we have focused on several areas:Supporting computational requirements of Garvan’s strategic programs
Contributing to competitive grant funding applications as the computational experts on the team
Scoping future research data storage and compute requirements
Building capacity through recruitment of key roles
Playing a key role in defining Australia’s national Genomics infrastructure plan
The DSP is also responsible for the Institute’s research data storage and compute strategy and deployment, computational training programs and leveraging the team’s expertise in machine learning and AI to support the world-class research undertaken at Garvan.Salary: Up to $135k + 11% super + salary packaging
