About the Role...
We’re seeking a full-time Windows and Linux Systems Administrator (Level 2) to join our small IT team (of three) and play a crucial role in maintaining, optimizing and helping to build out our IT infrastructure and to provide support to our staff and customers across Australia.
The key tasks of the role include, but are not limited to:
- Conduct performance evaluations to identify bottlenecks, areas for improvement, and potential security risks.
- Promptly respond to service requests (help-desk tickets) and incidents related to server, hardware, and software malfunctions or outages.
- Manage core database systems and write SQL queries.
- Perform regular security assessments and vulnerability scans on systems and networks.
- Develop and implement incident response plans to address security breaches and incidents.
- Develop, maintain and test comprehensive disaster recovery plans for critical systems.
- Implement measures to safeguard data, conduct regular backups to mitigate data loss risks, and ensure that recovery procedures are robust and effective for critical systems and databases.
- Collaborate with security vendors, suppliers, service providers, and external resources.
- Monitor for security threats and vulnerabilities, and take proactive measures to protect IT systems.
- Act as an after-hours emergency support escalation point periodically.
About You…
This is a busy role that requires someone with a bright, proactive and friendly personality who thrives under pressure, loves problem solving and enjoys interacting with people.
Strong communication, proven problem solving, time management and attention to detail are all skills that would be highly regarded.
With exposure to all or most of the following:
- Proven experience as a Systems Administrator (at least 5 years).
- Strong knowledge of server management, network administration, and IT security.
- Strong proficiency in operating systems such as Windows Server, Linux and Windows 10.
- Experience with virtualization technologies (e.g., Hyper-V).
- Experience managing VLAN’s, VPN’s and firewalls across Wide Area Networks.
- Proficiency in scripting and automation (e.g., PowerShell, Bash, PHP).
- Experience with database management systems (e.g., MySQL, SQL queries).
- Experience with Linux email services (IMAP, Dovecote, Postfix, etc).
- Experience using Samba with A/D integration.
- Experience managing web servers, specifically Apache and Nginx.
