An opportunity exists for a motivated Winemaker to join the award-winning Tate Wine team, and work with some of WA’s premier vineyards and wineries. This is a full-time permanent position, reporting to the Director of Winemaking. The successful applicant will be an experienced wine production professional, with the commitment to producing wines of the highest quality, and the drive to work in autonomy and in a dynamic team.
Main Job Responsibilities:
• Integral part of the small technical (viticulture and enology) team, based at the winemaking offices in the heart of the Margaret River G.I.
• Contribute to seasonal strategies and winemaking decisions to meet wine client demands.
• Responsible for the organization of the weekly production logistics, transport and records. Interacts with custom winemaking and bottling facilities.
• Responsible for all winemaking records collection, rechecks, data entry and Compliance. Responsible for the maintenance of the Vintrace winemaking data software.
• Opportunity to participate in all seasonal winemaking decisions: blends and trials, wine allocations, daily winemaking.
• Contribute to and represents the winemaking team in meetings with other business departments internally- Finance, Production, Direction- as well as externally at professional events, industry meetings etc.
• Opportunity to interact with our viticulture team as well as our grape growing partners.
• Contributes to harvest activities. However, the position does not require direct hands-on operations.
Experience, Skills and Qualifications:
• Experience and understanding of the wine production process, with minimum 2 years winery experience and/or harvest experience. Good understanding of winery equipment and operations. Good palate and experience in wine tasting are a plus.
• Logistics, transport and bottling operations experience and understanding.
• Interest for all aspects of the wine business, particularly enology and production.
• Valid driver’s license
• Computer skills, Vintrace software, MyOb, Office 365 suite, desired
• Highly organized and detail oriented.
• Polished communication skills required.
• Team player able to also work in autonomy.
• Strong work ethic and positive attitude. The position suits a candidate enjoying daily challenges in a highly dynamic business.
