About the job
In this role, you'll manage the end-to-end domestic transport of container imports, from working with freight forwarders through to scheduling delivery to customer distribution centres.
You will work closely with third-party transport providers, serving as the key point of contact to ensure timely, efficient, and cost-effective delivery.
You'll work independently but be supported by others in the team while working closely with a small number of key customers.
Key duties include:
- manage customer service bookings
- monitor sea shipments and update systems, ensuring all parties have required information
- liaise with 3rd-party transport providers to manage container collection
- create delivery schedules for customer DCs within the set lead times to always meet service expectations
- manage pickup and delivery issues and risks, proactively resolving to avoid customer impact
- maintain strong positive relationships with our clients and third-party providers
- track and manage costs with a high degree of accuracy
- logistics administration - ensure accuracy and completeness of documentation for compliance with organisational policies and regulations;
- electronic record keeping and updates to logistics management system.
We will provide full training in our systems and procedures but you'll need to use initiative to be successful in the role.
About you
We're looking for someone with:
- at least 2 years experience in a logistics/transport scheduling role, with a demonstrated understanding of international sea freight and third-party provider management (road transport)
- strong client service commitment
- great communication skills (written and spoken) with strong influencing/negotiating skills
- excellent attention to detail and accurate data entry
- strong time management
- ability to use your initiative to resolve issues
- willingness to follow established systems and procedures for routine work
- commitment to professionalism in your work
- ability to learn new software systems quickly
- administration experience
