Principal Accountabilities:
- To develop and achieve agreed Distribution business plans, operational budgets (including costs, working capital and CAPEX) and performance targets / KPI’s to deliver the operation’s operational objectives.
- To manage day to day Distribution resources to meet customer needs.
- To lead, manage and develop the culture and employee resources of the Distribution areas consistent with corporate values.
- To ensure that agreed company policies and business processes are in place and adhered to.
- To ensure that the Distribution function operates within applicable legislative requirements such as safety, quality, environment, human resource management.
- To develop and maintain key relationships with peers, sales functions, head office functions, suppliers and customers.
- Ensure all deliveries are routed in the most efficient order.
- Coordinate after hours support for Delivery Vehicles.
- Coordinate maintenance of Delivery Vehicles.
Shared Accountabilities:
- In conjunction with site management and corporate implement an effective Occupational Health and Safety Management plan for the Distribution operations in line with corporate policies and procedures.
- In conjunction with site management and corporate develop and manage information management processes utilising Management Information Systems to report, analyse and drive continuous improvement of operational performance.
- In conjunction with Sales / Business Development Managers, manage the addition of new direct supplied customers.
- In conjunction with Customer Service staff and Sales / Business Development Managers, coordinate one-off deliveries.
Qualifications and Experience:
- A practical understanding of the company’s total supply chain and the related operational issues as they apply to the range of products and customers.
- A practical understanding of Human Resources Management processes and related basic legal requirements, especially in relation to Occupational Health and Safety and Employee / Industrial Relations.
- An appreciation of consumer protection legal requirements especially as they relate to perishable food products and associated regulatory arrangements in the food industry.
- A working knowledge of continuous improvement methods and processes.
- An appreciation of relevant government, industry and community structures and programs.
- Strong leadership skills with the capacity to positively influence people and to initiate and deliver change independently or through teamwork.
- Excellent communication (verbal and writing), presentation and negotiation skills.
- Well-developed logical and lateral thinking skills with a capacity for innovation.
- Competency in operation of Delivery Vehicles.
- Competency in computer based communication and information management tools (MS Outlook, Word, Excel etc.)
