Job description

When you join MercyCare, you join something bigger. A community of staff that make a difference at the heart of the community. As a leading Western Australian not-for-profit provider of aged care, family, community, early learning and disability services we support people throughout life’s journey. We invest in our people by building rewarding careers, offering training and development opportunities and a values-driven culture where our people can belong and thrive.

About the role

Bring your energy and passion to this new and innovative opportunity! Mercycare has partnered with  Loop Foundation, a WA-based social enterprise, to provide diverse employment and training opportunities for people from refugee and migrant backgrounds, and other disadvantaged people in the community with experiencing barriers to sustainable employment.

Reporting to the Manager Multicultural Services North, the Loop Project Officer role plays a critical role as conduit, between the Loop Foundation and Mercycare stakeholders, as well as providing critical person centred wrap-around case management support, resources and information to clients. The position is primarily based  between our Mirrabooka facility and at the LOOP warehouse in Malaga on a one year fixed term basis on 30 hours per week.

About you

As a dynamic and energetic individual who is dedicated to improving the lives of others in a unique environment where your days will be varied, you will utilise your relationship building and interpersonal skills to develop meaningful relationships built on trust and integrity with clients and stakeholders alike.

As a self starter with a genuine passion for supporting a multicultural workforce, prior similar experience providing trauma informed person centred support will see you to success in this role.  Your resilience and high level engagement skills within a diverse group will put you in good stead to manage the multiple demands that come your way - whilst maintaining your focus on the success of the Loop Foundation/Mercycare partnership you support and the wellbeing and service to the clients reliant on this partnership.

Skills, certifications and experience will also include:

  • Tertiary degree in a relevant Human services field or similar (or significant experience in a similar role)
  • Knowledge and understanding of issues related to refugees and migrants who have experienced trauma and displacement.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of case management and group facilitation.
  • A commitment to improving the quality of life, skills and independence of people in a trauma-informed way
  • Drivers Licence
  • Working with Children’s Check
  • National Police Clearance (issued within the last six months)

About the benefits

Join an incredible team focused on empowering people in our communities in a new role where you can really make your mark! You’ll have strong leadership and support for your own growth and development. You’ll also have access to:

  • Not for profit Salary Packaging options including meal and entertainment benefits
  • Childcare discounts for your own little ones
  • Options to purchase additional leave supporting work/life balance
  • Career Pathways, Professional Development and Training
  • Comprehensive Wellbeing Program including discounted health insurance, free flu vaccinations and skin checks
