Job description

  • Join our Centre of Excellence – the Silverwater Learning Centre in a critical services role!
  • $117,608 base salary + 15% Super + competitive shift allowances/overtime availability
  • Join the Safety Delivery & Operations Group as Ausgrid embarks on its transformation journey!

Ausgrid is on an exciting transformation journey and now is the time to be a part of something big. We are proud to service Australia’s east coast, as a leading business in energy distribution, delivering a safe and reliable electricity supply to more than 1.8 million homes – that’s over four million Australians relying on us every day.

Our vision is simple; for our communities to have the power for a resilient, affordable net zero future.

We take pride in knowing that the work we collectively achieve today, will transform the world tomorrow. We value a culture of working and living safely, being customer focussed, commercially minded, collaborative, honest, accountable, and respectful. Our values are not just initiatives driven by leaders; they define the way we work.

Meet our team!

In a world where you spend more hours per week with your work colleagues than your family, it is important to us that you enjoy the team you are in! Energise your career as part of the rapidly growing Sydney Control Room function, based at our centre of excellence – the Silverwater Learning Centre.

Playing a pivotal part in ensuring the safety and reliability of our network for our customers, your direct team makes up 1/3 of the Sydney Control Room operations, supporting the function on a 24/7, 12-hour shift roster, rotating on a 13-week cycle.

Your new role

Reporting to the LV Control Room Manager, the Low Voltage Control Room Operator coordinates Restricted Operators in accessing the Low Voltage for planned and unplanned works, providing emergency response and other technical support services to ensure a safe, reliable, sustainable, and affordable network for our customers. You will provide a 24-hour, 7-day allocation of service for customers to ensure maximum employee utilisation and productivity, coordinating all aspects of Low Voltage jobs and switching on the ADMS.

This role will see you coordinate our field employees to ensure adequate resources are available to perform scheduled tasks, providing Low Voltage Network technical support to internal and external parties and responding to emergencies, including large scale or complex emergency situations, implementing prescribed workarounds and maintaining the emergency response service levels.

Given the nature of the 24/7 shift roster and rotating cycle, additional shift allowances on top of a competitive base salary is rewarded, as well as additional overtime availability.

Spark our interest!

Our hiring decisions are not only based on your experience and skills, but we also take into consideration your passion, attitude, and alignment to our core values.

Energise us through your skills and qualifications in:

  • Licensed electrical tradesperson (Certificate III Electrotechnology) or Diploma/Advanced Diploma Power systems or Degree in Electrical engineering
  • Class C drivers license
  • Experience and sound knowledge of Low Voltage Network
  • Ability to operate ADMS to a standard appropriate to the Low Voltage Control Room
  • Ability to obtain Class 5 Restricted Operating Authority and 2B Low Voltage Fuse replacement and maintain Class 6C Operating Authority
  • Sound knowledge of customer metering, installations, appliances, standards and rules
  • Experience in the resolution of domestic and commercial customer enquiries and problems
  • Demonstrated knowledge of emergency response work processes
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Highly developed interpersonal and negotiation skills
  • Sound knowledge of the coordination and allocation of work to a variety of field employees
  • Sound knowledge of responding to network faults and incidents, with proven conflict resolution and problem analysis skills
  • Extensive knowledge of the organisation’s operations and boundaries of other energy distributors
  • Advanced computer skills with experience in a variety of software packages, tools or general applications.

Desirable:

  • Advanced Diploma of Electrical Engineering
  • Relevant Class of HV Operating Authority, e.g. Class 1 (C or D), 2(Cc, Cs, Gh), 5Bcb
